With a unique archive material, the film becomes a journey throughout the 20th century where two completely different families radiate together, with Sven and his wife Mona in the center. The Johansson family, later Tumba, has roots in the Berlin of famine and depression. Mona Nessim's family belongs to Stockholm's society with a large apartment on Östermalm and a country house in Saltsjöbaden. Mona and Sven's romance are a shock to her parents who think that a sports star is not nice enough for the Nessim family.
