While he works on a plan B in the background, he cancels his candidacy and causes a lot of disappointment at the base and in the media, which had been looking forward to a "Kühnert vs. Scholz" spectacle. Nevertheless, he wants to expand his influence in the party. Kühnert and the Jusos are sending a duo into the race against Scholz that surprises many.
