Giorgio, a promising set designer, is found dead, apparently by suicide. The boy's father blames Don Matteo for the misfortune, guilty of having alienated the young man from his family. In the barracks, the carabinieri prepare to receive honours. Everything seems to portend a beautiful day of celebration, but Signora Tommasi is the victim of a car accident, colliding with Amanda. Although the woman is barely bruised, she takes advantage of the situation to attract her son's attention to her, making life impossible for him.
