The elves are messing around, so everything that's written disappears. The new sign Severinsen made for the baker and the drawings he and Karoline made in the account book are gone. When the mayor wants to read his new speech to his wife, it's gone too. He thinks everything is cursed and promises to throw a Christmas party to get everything back. Even the declaration of love that Karoline and Severinsen made to each other.
