The peddler sits in the shop and tells stories from the seven seas. He talks about decorated Christmas trees in Germany, but when Mads and Mette mention it, the mayor does not want to hear about it. The blacksmith sets about inventing a Christmas tree stand and candle holders. The mayor goes up to the attic but sees nothing. Instead, he hears someone (the elves) shouting “Christmas party.”
