These include meeting a penniless Italian hotel maid and a game of cat and mouse on Zoe's part between Nick, his neurologist Dr Frances Lively and the infamous Professor Walter McFey, who Zoe persuades to operate on Nick, with a operation that could either potentially save his life, or leave him with severe disabilities if he pulls through. How far will she go to save her patient?
