Some 20% of Canadians speak French as a first language - that's over 7 million people! Sometimes known as Joual or Québécois, the French in Canada is a little different to that which is spoken in France today, though the dialects were once the same, having been brought form Europe in the 16th and 17th Century. In this video I'll look at why some people in Canada still speak French, the story of cities like Montreal an Quebec, The French And Indian War/ 7 Years War, interactions with the First Nations people and the more modern history of Canada as well. Oh, and memes.
