Islam is the world's second largest religion with over 24.4% of its population being Muslim: that's 1.9 billion people. Today I'm going to look at the early days of the religion, when in a very short period of time the Islamic Empire conquered large swathes of the Middle East, Africa, and the Iberian Peninsula. What many people don't know is that three cataclysmic volcanic eruptions, leading to the so called Late Antique Little Ice Age, and the subsequent boost in size of camel herds may have greatly aided those early Muslim conquerors.
