Together with Kaede, Hakuro goes to his mother’s family home to search for clues. There they learn that Akito visited the house several years earlier to see the spot where Hakuro and Akito’s mother, Teiko, was found dead. They also learn that shortly before Teiko died, Konosuke’s mistress, Sayo, also visited the house. Unable to find out anything about Sayo from the Yajimas, Hakuro and Kaede decide to track her down and speak to her themselves.
