Hakuro is shocked to learn his mother was murdered by one of her Yajima in-laws. Then Kaede reveals that her husband, Akito, had been on the verge of telling Hakuro the truth when he disappeared. Hakuro wonders why his younger brother didn’t confide in him earlier. Later, he becomes concerned when Kaede bluntly refuses to accompany him to the Yajima residence because she has other plans and stops responding to his calls and texts.
