Olivier Tronier, a real estate agent, is going through a rough patch. Divorced, broke, father of a teenage daughter in crisis, son of an irresponsible father, he's finding it hard to keep his head above water and has taken to squatting in the apartments he's supposed to sell. When his mother dies, he learns that he has inherited a building in the heart of Paris. A solution to his material problems? In reality, it's a ruin housing a single tenant, Liliane Petresco, who has no intention of moving. From one disappointment to another, Olivier finds himself with a goldfish as his only confidant.
