In 1974, thousands of life-size terracotta soldiers were unearthed near the Mausoleum of the first Qin Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. But the true reason of their burial remained a mystery. During recent investigations, many other life-size statues, remains of an extravagant palace, and ruins of the castle walls of a vast city were excavated in the same area.
