Blanche lets Deidre know that she disapproves of her engagement to Ken. Deidre can't believe it since Blanche was the one going on at her for years about tyeing the knot! Blanche tells her that she had hoped for a bit of romance! Later, Ken puts his foot in it when he tells Deidre all the benefits of getting married - and they're purely financial! Outraged that Ken proposed to her for all the wrong reasons Deidre calls off the engagement much to Ken's disappointment . . . Les sits by the phone waiting to hear from the supposed kidnappers! Cilla tries to persuade him to go out so that she can get on with her plans but Les isn't budging. Eventually, Cilla goes out and returns telling Les that the kidnappers rang her while she was out and that she has to take the ransom money alone . . .
