This journey begins at the volcanic island of Stromboli before joining Sicily's northern coast where we head west past hill top villages to Cefalu and its ancient cathedral. From there we continue to the island's capital city - Palermo. Inland to the south west is one of many ancient Greek archaeological sites on the island at Segesta. Back on the coast in the north west corner is the city and harbour town of Trapani and nearby a magnificent hill top town and castle. From there we head south across vineyards to the coast at Triscina and our final location - the ancient Greek ruins at Selinunte.

This journey starts over the Isles of Scilly, at the very south-west tip of Britain. The rugged coastline of Cornwall takes us to the historic Falmouth Bay whose fortresses have guarded the harbour entrance for centuries. And nestled in an abandoned clay pit we find an extraordinary ecological experiment - the Eden Project, near St Austell. Passing Plymouth harbour and the biggest naval dockyard in Europe, we reach the Jurassic Coast - one of the most important fossil sites on Earth and we end our journey over some of the finest sailing waters in Europe, at Weymouth Bay.

This journey begins at Mepkin Abbey on the Cooper River before heading east to the Historic Hampton Plantation and then on to the coast, where it follows marshland and inlets before flying over the enormous Francis Marion National Forest. To the south is a large natural harbour and Fort Sumter, a key stronghold during the American Civil War. And overlooking the bay is one of the most beautiful cities in South Carolina: Charleston. Inland, discover the beautiful gardens at Middleton Place before turning south to Kiawah Island and its world-famous golf courses. On Parris Island the US Marines have their training camp for new recruits. And the journey ends on the sandy beaches of Hilton Head Island.

The journey starts in the heart of North Wales, at the historic town of Ruthin. From the ruins of the medieval Denbigh Castle, fly along the golden beaches and resort towns of the north coast. At Conway Bay, fly south-west and past the largest slate quarry in Wales before heading towards the Menai Strait, a narrow sea channel that separates the Isle of Anglesea from the mainland. From Caernarvon Castle, the ceremonial seat of the Prince of Wales, the journey ends with a spectacular flight through the mountains and valleys of Snowdonia, finishing at the highest peak in Wales, Mount Snowdon.

This journey begins towards the middle of Portugal at Linhares Castle, before heading south west towards the beautiful city of Coimbra and its ancient university. From there we look at two spectacular monasteries at Batalha and Tomar before heading for the coast at the resort town of Nazare. Just inland to the south is the striking walled town of Obidos and its castle. Back on the coast are the dramatic cliffs of Cabo de Roca. Following the coastline we take a look at a series of resort towns and glorious beaches including Cascais and Oeiras before entering the River Tagus and our final destination - Lisbon - the capital of Portugal.

This journey begins at the Plimoth Plantation, a re-creation of the first European settlement, before moving up the coast to modern town of Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers' ship, the Mayflower, has been reconstructed. On the way north towards the capital of Massachusetts, Boston, pass the town of Quincy, home to one of the founding fathers of the American Revolution and also its second president - John Adams. Much of the early history of America's independence happened in Boston. Take a good look at one of the country's finest historic cities, including its modern side. Following the coast north is Salem, and a town famous for its association with witch hunts in the 17th century. This journey begins at the southern reaches of Saxony heading toward the historic city of Leipzig. It's then on to Colditz Castle, the infamous World War II prison. To the south lie the Ore Mountains, whose silver deposits once brought great wealth to the town of Freiberg. Joining the great River Elbe at Meissen, follow it upstream to the capital of Saxony, Dresden. From the splendid Baroque gardens at Gross Sedlitz, head to Saxon Switzerland National Park that so inspired the German romantic painters. This journey starts on the north coast of East Anglia at the resort town of Cromer, before heading along the coast towards the old fishing harbour of Blakeney. Heading inland past a series of magnificent country houses we take a look at the current queen's royal Residence at Sandringham. At King's Lynn we discover warehouses going back to the 15th century when it was one of the main ports on the east coast. On the far side of the low-lying Fens is the city of Peterborough and its great medieval cathedral. To the north on a road first built by the Romans is the market town of Stamford. This journey ends at two spectacular houses, Harlaxton Manor, built in the 19th century and Belvoir Castle, which has a history stretching back the Norman invasion of 1066.

This journey begins at the Straits of Messina before heading north up the coast to the resort town of Tropea. Continuing north past a striking coastline and hill top villages we come to Paestum, one of the greatest Greek archaeological sites of the ancient world. Further north we take a dramatic dawn flight around the Amalfi coastline, the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, and then explore the ancient Roman town of Pompeii. On the north side of the bay, after a closer look at Vesuvius we pass the crowded city and port of Naples. Flying west along the coast is the beautiful Island of Ischia. This journey ends at sunset on the other side of the bay over the island of Capri and a look at a Roman Emperor's summer villa.

This journey begins in the north of the state at the Winterthur Museum before heading south towards Wilmington, the largest city in Delaware. From there, follow the river to New Castle and it historic houses. To the south is Pea Patch Island and Fort Delaware, protecting the approach to the capital. Inland at Newark is the University of Delaware. Continuing south is Dover and the International Speedway Track, as well as a large US Airforce Base. Turning towards the coast, take a look at the flocks of migrating birds heading south for the winter. At Lewes the ferries come and go across Delaware Bay to New Jersey, and just outside the town is Henlopen State Park and some military relics from World War II. This journey ends at the popular shopping and seaside resort of Rehoboth.

This journey starts at the historic city of Stirling in the southern lowlands of Scotland. Then head towards the university town of St Andrews and its famous golf course. Along the dramatic coastline with its red cliffs is the mighty 10th-century Dunnotar Castle. At Aberdeen, turn inland toward the Cairngorm National Park, home to some of the highest peaks in Scotland. It's also where you'll find Balmoral Castle, the summer residence of the British Royal Family. Passing through Scotland's biggest whisky-producing region, the journey ends at Cawdor Castle, famous for its link with Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth.
