RHS Chelsea Flower Show

One hundred years on from the inception of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, our cities have grown in size both upwards as well as outwards. However as Professor Nigel Dunnett explains, this shouldn't stop you from trying your hand at having a garden or cultivated outside space. His rooftop garden this year celebrates 'skyrise greening' and looks at water management in a wonderful living, outside/inside spatial experience. Tom Hart-Dyke also scours the Great Pavilion for top tips on plants for unusual spaces and challenging conditions whether it be soil, shade or damp as he goes on a hunt to bring us the best plants for tricky environments. It would seem there's no excuse for not gardening!

Back for its 105th year, the RHS Chelsea Flower Show promises to be bigger and bolder than ever. With the alphabet as their guide, Jennifer and Adam step back in time to guide us through the highlights of over 100 years of Chelsea magic, each letter representing a significant element of this British institution. No stone is left unturned as they reveal everything you ever wanted to know about Chelsea. We also reunite with the most influential Chelsea designers, including a special profile of Sarah Eberle, Chelsea's most prolific gold medallist, to share their memories of winning big at the show and look back at some of the game-changing creations that transformed the event into the world leader it is today. Away from the showground, Gardeners World presenters Arit Anderson and Frances Tophill travel across the UK to meet nursery folk as they prepare to exhibit in the Great Pavilion and uncover the secrets behind their successes at the show. And we discover how Chelsea tendrils grow global, following Chelsea first timer Jonathan Snow as he travels to Italy to source plants for his South African-inspired design! Jennifer and Adam don their high vis and steel toe caps as they meet the RHS team, designers and landscapers to experience the enormous effort required to get the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea show ready for 21 May. Sandi Toksvig and Adam Frost kick off the flower show season with a glimpse of what goes into making the the Chelsea Flower Show the most eagerly awaited event in the gardening calendar. The Road to Chelsea goes from Grenada to Yorkshire and from Brighton to Cardiff by way of a leisurely cruise down the Thames. Sandi, Adam and Gardeners’ World presenter Arit Anderson meet some of the passionate growers, florists and garden designers whose skill, dedication and desire to be the best make Chelsea the most prestigious flower show in the world.

Adam Frost and Angellica Bell present an exclusive preview of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, from the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. There are show gardens inspired by Florence Nightingale and Psalm 23, feature gardens helping tackle climate change, a Kew wedding that becomes a floral celebration, a nursery that is exhibiting a whole new collection of plants, and a school where students prove the value of houseplants.
