Man & Beast with Martin Clunes

Martin travels to Nepal, where the cow is sacred, and owning one symbolises wealth, strength and abundance. He also goes night fishing in the Nagara River in Japan where cormorant fishermen have worked for more than 1300 years. Martin travels onto the Himilayas looking for elephants where he finds out about the mahout profession, which is four thousand years old and still passed on from generation to generation.

Martin learns how pet ownership in Japan is scaling some new heights of intensity and he learns about the story of a dog called Hachiko who became the perfect expression of why man allowed dogs into his life. He also talks to the dog owners in Tokyo who treat their pets more like children. He then talks to a man who has dedicated his life to rehabilitating abandoned dogs. After making his way to Bangkok, Martin sees the silkworm at work for the Thai silk industry.
