2003: Audrey Barreyre and her boyfriend break into a house on the Basque Corniche. Accidentally, they cause a fire. They flee, taking a valuable necklace. In the confusion, Audrey finds herself alone, at night, on the moor. Itsas, a serial killer who is rampant in the region, then tries to kill her. 2019: Audrey is now 35 years old. She is a Parisian lawyer, married, mother of a little boy. She freezes when she learns that a young girl, Maialen, was found dead in the Basque country. On her, an unknown necklace of great value. Audrey lies to her husband and leaves for the Basque country. She becomes the lawyer for Maialen's parents. As soon as she arrives, Audrey is very poorly received by those who recognize her. What happened 16 years ago?

2003: Audrey is consumed by guilt - Franck, the father of her best friend Elaura was seriously burned during the fire. To avoid sinking, she manages to convince Joseph and his team to act as bait, in order to stop Itsas. They frequent nightclubs. But one evening, taking advantage of a moment of inattention from the police, Itsas almost kills Audrey. Joseph reassures the terrified young woman. They are kissing. Joseph immediately restrains himself but Audrey is in love. 2019: Audrey manages to get Ana, Maialen's best friend, to talk and discovers that the young woman was meeting married men via dating apps. Pauline ends up suspecting a married man, Guillaume Conan, who had a meeting with Maialen. At the police station, Joseph comes face to face with Audrey: Pauline is his daughter! The confrontation is violent: 16 years earlier, Audrey ruined her life. He orders him to drop the Maialen affair and to no longer approach Pauline.

2003: Audrey tries to convince herself that Cortez is indeed Itsas' killer and to forget everything. She clings like a buoy to her relationship with Joseph. An intense passion is born, even if the two have to see each other in secret. While celebrating Elaura's bachelorette party on the beach, Audrey has a full-blown panic attack. Taken to hospital, she was prescribed anxiolytics. 2019: as Pauline felt unwell, the prosecutor wanted to remove her from the investigation. Pauline makes up for it by offering him a partner, with her father. In police custody, Conan admits to having met Maialen. She had set a trap for him with an accomplice, to steal a vase from him. Since Conan's DNA doesn't match, he is exonerated. The investigation then turns to the trail of Maialen's mysterious boyfriend. The police identify a certain Patxi. He is arrested and taken into custody. Audrey convinces Maialen's parents to give a TV interview to relaunch the investigation into Itsas.

2003: Audrey comes to Elaura to apologize for her crisis during the bachelor party. But someone is lurking around the house where Elaura lives. When Franck and his wife Marianne return, the house is empty. No trace of their daughter. We soon find his body on a beach: Itsas has struck again. It wasn't Nacho Cortez. From there, a surge of hatred falls on Audrey and her family. 2019: in police custody, Patxi finally cracks: he was Maialen's boyfriend. He found her dying at the scene of her attack. Patxi attempted to drive Maialen to the emergency room, but when she arrived she was dead. For fear of being accused, it was he who abandoned the body in the forest. But he didn't kill her!

Audrey is interned in HP. She tries to call Joseph to tell him the whole truth about the night of her assault but Joseph refuses to talk to her. She manages to escape and leaves the Basque Country. In Bordeaux, she watches over Joseph, his wife and his daughter Pauline. Does she want them harm? 2019: the meeting between Ana and the worrying man goes wrong: she gasses him with tear gas and flees into the moor in the middle of the night. Audrey picks her up and makes her promise not to put herself in any more danger. She warns Mikel, Ana's father: his daughter is not well. Jean, Audrey's husband, arrives in Biarritz and discovers that Audrey's parents are still alive - contrary to what she has always told him. The confrontation between Jean and Audrey is violent.

The evening of her attack, Maialen wants to change before joining Patxi, but her mother is at home. She goes to change at Ana's. There she comes across the necklace. She puts it around her neck. Then she discovers Mikel's macabre objects: covers with clothes and photos of his victims. Maialen gets scared and runs away. But Mikel saw her. He chases her and has no other choice to kill her. Before he can take the necklace back, Patxi appears. Mikel runs away. Patxi tries to save Maialen. In vain. A man witnesses all of this: Franck. When Mikel discovers dating apps on Ana's phone, a violent argument breaks out between father and daughter. He confiscates all his means of communication.
