In 1987, Kim Soo-pil announced that he would no longer participate in the award ceremony, and as the popularity of Kim Soo-chul and Lee Eun-ha, who won the grand prize in 1984, and Yoon Soo-il, who had been nominated consistently except for 1982, waned, it became the last time that singers who were active in the early to mid-80s attended the award ceremony.
