That was also the start of an undeclared war against many Japanese-Americans. More than 100,000 Japanese-immigrants and their children were taken from their homes and put in relocation centers or internment camps. But despite the humiliating treatment, several thousand young Japanese men desparately wanted the chance to fight for their adopted country.
