He refuses to play along because he is absolutely not interested in a television career. Sabrina manages to distract attention by "coincidentally" announcing that she will cook that evening. Franky goes one step further, announcing that his beloved Janineke is coming over. However, Janineke turns out to be a full-fledged Janine, to say nothing of the rest of her family.

F.C. Superbeton, the indoor soccer team of 'Magic Maria' Backeljau, must play against K.V. Ferrometal. Enough reason to make the soccer uniforms a bit more feminine. The men wonder what the difference is between indoor soccer and a fashion show. Cois immediately promises to stop smoking if Superbeton makes it to the finals. Since he is a real chain smoker, the Backeljau family fears the consequences. When Cois also finds out that someone is secretly plundering his beer supply, enough is enough. Too much is too much!

Noise nuisance. Sooner or later, everyone has to deal with it. Marcel De Neut, the Backeljaus' neighbor, deserves better. Not a day goes by without his eccentric neighbors making his life, according to him, a living hell. Tonight, he's had enough: if Cois refuses to listen to reason, he will resort to drastic measures. It seems like everyone in the Backeljau family is fighting with everyone else. According to Thérèse, it's because everyone is bored. The TV is broken, after all. Maria sees only one solution: bring a child into the house. There is nothing else for it but to call her sister Carla and invite Cois' godchild, a five-year-old, for the weekend. Lionel comes to stay, along with his violin and Ninja Turtles books. Everyone does their best to make him feel at home. Ultimately, a weekend without TV turns out to be quite enjoyable, as long as it doesn't last too long.

Sabrina is fired, although the rest of the family didn’t even know she had found a job. Apparently, she wasn’t very good as a waitress in Marie-Jeanne’s ice-cream parlor. Maria tries to give her a crash course, but it all comes to nothing. The family is truly alarmed when Cois comes home with the news that Superbeton is bankrupt and he is now out on the street. Heads are put together, and tasks are redistributed. Maria becomes the breadwinner, and Cois will take care of the household.

Going skiing on brush slopes in the Belgian Deurne on Friday the thirteenth is asking for trouble. The Moesjnamoeri-Visjna Hoeniw-Mahal-Prahati knows all about it. His disciples would have been better off choosing another day to visit the Backeljau family. Thérèse, who is about to leave for the Mokawi Indians, can use some extra manpower to carry her luggage downstairs. It's all getting a bit too much for Cois, and he loses his famous angelic patience.
