久能整（菅田将暉）が、犬堂我路（永山瑛太）から教わった大阪で開催される美術展に行くことを考えていた頃、大隣警察署には新たに発生した連続殺人事件の応援要請が来ていた。青砥成昭（筒井道隆）に指名された風呂光聖子（伊藤沙莉）は捜査本部へと向かう。 すでに三人の犠牲者を出していたこの犯罪は、遺体を交差点の真ん中に磔のように遺棄する猟奇的な事件だ。さらに、三人目の遺体の傷口から被害者本人のものではない血液が検出される。血液はDNA鑑定で22年前に殺害された被害者と一致。羽喰玄斗による連続婦女暴行殺人事件の17人目の被害者、辻十岐子だ。18件目の殺人を犯して以来、姿を消していた羽喰がまた殺害を始めたのかと捜査本部はいろめき立つ。だが、備前島操警部（船越英一郎）は羽喰の犯行ではないと言う。部下の猫田十朱（松本若菜）も羽喰の事件とは様相が違うと賛同。会話を聞いていた風呂光は猫田とバディを組むよう備前島に指示された。 一方、我路は愛珠（白石麻衣）の死の真相を求めて、ジュートという人物を追っていた。すると、愛珠が生前、タクシーで頻繁に倉庫街に通っていたことを知る。そこでは、不定期で闇カジノが開かれていた。カジノに潜入した我路は横田留美（夏子）と知り合い、愛珠がカジノで働いていた事を知らされる。 捜査本部では遺体が一時的に折り畳まれて運ばれた可能性が上がった。風呂光と聞き込みをしていた猫田は遺棄現場付近でスーツケースを押しながら歩く少女が目撃されていると報告。そんな時、風呂光に匿名の人物から事件のタレ込み電話が入った。

美術展を見終わった久能整（菅田将暉）は東京へ帰る新幹線に乗車。弁当を食べようとした時、隣席に美樹谷紘子（関めぐみ）が座った。何となく気恥ずかしい整は、早々に弁当を食べて寝てしまう。 うたた寝から目覚めた整がふと隣席を見ると紘子が手紙を読んでいた。便箋を見た整は思わず“な、ご、や、に、は、く、る、な”と口にする。驚く紘子に整は謝罪。だが、手紙にそんなことは書いていないので、紘子には意味がわからない。整は文章ではなく、イラストの頭文字を並び替えたのだと教える。すると、紘子は他の手紙も整に見せた。 紘子は整に手紙は父からのものだと話す。両親を幼い頃に亡くした紘子は、亡き母の親友が引き取って育ててくれた。しかし、最近になり紘子は育ててくれた母のクローゼットに古い手紙が隠してあるのを見つける。それが、今読んでいた手紙で父が今の母に宛てたもの。今の母から両親は亡くなったと聞いていたが、父の手紙は紘子を返して欲しいと訴えていた。手紙に書いてあった住所に、紘子が手紙を出してみると返事が来た。結婚を控えた紘子は、父にバージンロードを一緒に歩いて欲しいと頼むため、そこに向かうところだと言う。 しかし、手紙のイラストは解くほどに危ういメッセージが連なる。そんな二人の様子を見ながら徐々に席を移り近づいて来る人物がいた。ついに後ろの席まで来た時、整が声をかける。それはサキ（高畑淳子）という女性だった。 その頃、犬堂我路（永山瑛太）たちは風呂光聖子（伊藤沙莉）らを助け、辻浩増（北村匠海）から愛珠（白石麻衣）の死の真相を聞いていた。だが、そこには新たな謎が・・・。
