No life plan, no money, I had to start all over again." He started as a waiter in Praça da Alegria, studied to be a presenter, and always tried to do everything he could. With 20 years of television experience, Hélder Reis has projects in music, agriculture, and is now traveling the world with what he says is the program of his life - "Notícias do Meu País." She arrived in Lisbon at age seven, after 14 days at sea, always with her fado singer mother. It was in Angola that she became a singer and actress. In 1997, at the height of her career in Portugal, she went on vacation to Italy, fell in love, got married, and lived there for almost ten years. Back in Portugal, another chapter followed, full of disappointments and difficulties - "Those who don't show up forget." Vera Mônica's life would indeed make a book. On the eve of Carnival, Sílvia Alberto meets an artist who wears masks year-round: Fernando Santos, one of the biggest names in drag in Portugal. Born in Mouraria, she learned basic values such as dignity and respect there. At four, she already revealed a fascination with the feminine universe and, even before she turned 18, ran away from home, leaving a note for her mother saying she wanted to fly and be free. A few years later, she considered changing her sex, but realized in time that this wasn't the path for her. Neither did alcohol or drugs. She toured the country performing, savoring the applause, but also experiencing moments of anguish and discrimination. Today, she continues, every night, to take the stage at Finalmente as Deborah Kristal.

"I don't like questions. If I'm going to talk, I don't care." Celeste Rodrigues, about to turn 95, accepted Sílvia Alberto's invitation to a conversation at Mesa de Frades in Alfama - "all the fado houses are my homes." That's where we find her singing every week; it's through fado that she feeds her soul and finds the energy to face anything. With over seven decades of activity and an incredible memory, Celeste assures me she wouldn't mind living it all over again. She misses her brothers, her parents, and her mother's voice, which she considered the best in the world - "She loved to sing for us, at home. Like us, I never thought of being an artist, nor did my sister."
