An unidentified man's body is discovered in a wasteland. His death appears to have been caused by a violent blow to the head. Commander Rovère's team discovers that this is Captain Luc Fomey, a student at the prestigious Ecole Supérieure des Armées. The autopsy reveals that the thirty-year-old had taken drugs and that the blow was carried out post-mortem: the assassin wanted to make it appear as an attack. While Rovère is interested in Greg, a young man seen with the victim, there are echoes of another case...

Olivia Dubois, an ordinary student, is murdered, stabbed seven times. Her grandmother refuses to speak to law enforcement. Her ex-fiancé, who is one of the suspects, has only a flimsy alibi for the night of the crime. Someone was harassing the young woman on the phone. In her notebook, Olivia had the number of judge Nadia Lintz. These many elements which leave Commander Rovère perplexed.
