When the chairman of the agricultural production cooperative in Altenstein, Daniel Druskat, is picked up by the prosecutor's office for interrogation and everyone asks themselves the question of the why, his daughter Anja becomes active and contacts research.

After Anja Druskat could not learn about Daniel Druskat's arrest with Max Stephan, she contacts the innkeeper of Horbeck, Anna Preibisch. Anna and her sister Ida tell how Daniel Druskat came to the village, how he met Irene, the mother of Anja, and what danger they all got into the last weeks of war.

According to Druskat's statement with the public prosecutor, he must think about his previous life, his marriage with Irene and about the events in the spring of 1960, at the time when the villages were moving to the fully cooperative working method. Max Stephan and Gustav Gomolla were also to think about this year, as many decisions were made that gave a turning point for some lives.

Anja learns from Rosemarie after she went to Bebelow, which is why Daniel Druskat was arrested. But she wants him to tell his daughter about the events himself. Together, Anja and Rosemarie return to Altenstein, where they want to engage in the work of Druskat. Kettner, who works as a representative of Druskat in the cooperative and is sympathetic to him, knows about the attitude of the people at the time when Druskat came to Altenstein in 1960 and took over the completely downward cooperative.

Although Anja and the others now know why Druskat was arrested, it is still unclear who has reported it. The visit to the outgoing cooperative in Horbeck, which Max Stephan leads, and the subsequent district delegate conference of the SED gave the impetus to the question of the guilt of Druskat. The question is: Has the dispute between Daniel Druskat and Max Stephan put an end to it? One thing is certain: the friendship of the two has proved itself in any case.
