Animator, director, producer William Denby Hanna, co-founder of the company Hanna-Barbera, created popular cartoon characters such as Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones, and Scooby-Doo. The Hanna-Barbera team had produced more than 3,000 half-hour shows for 150 television cartoon series, and they won seven Academy Awards and eight Emmy Awards, including the Governors Award of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (1988).
