Anti-police feeling runs high when a local man who has escaped from prison is hunted down by Det. Sgt. Maddern. An old prospector living on the outskirts of Matlock, Delhunty, becomes embroiled in the hunt. The hunted man is a bushman, who escaped from prison mainly because of his pathological fear of enclosed spaces.
