Shen Jia Lan’s family is destroyed after a political dispute, and she is sent to the state brothel with the other women. Xu Lan Xiang’s parents secretly save Jia Lan by taking her place, allowing her to escape. Jia Lan survives, but is devastated by the loss of her family.
