The first Gayo Awards was held at KBS Hall. It was hosted by Kim Dong-gun and Go Hyun-jung and Seo Jung-min, who were the MCs of Saturday Night Live at the time. Kim Dong-gun was in charge of the overall hosting, while Go Hyun-jung and Seo Jung-min were in charge of auxiliary hosting, including interviews with the nominated singers' families and reports on the judging site.
