Mercedes reveals to Ignacio that she is expecting a child from him and the young man does not have a good reaction. Manuel reads the diary that was supposedly his mother's and discovers that it was really Candelaria Valdivieso's, José Luis's mother. Teresita's older brother changes his mind after talking to Luis Emilio and proposes to Mercedes that they go away together to raise their son in peace. As he continues reading the notebook, Manuel also finds out that he is the only son of Renato Echeñique, since José Luis is the son of Evaristo Pradenas and Candelaria Valdivieso. The worker tells his sisters what is happening and asks them to be discreet, since they could use this information to their advantage. Leontina discovers Ignacio and Mercedes' plan and tells the boss, who arrests and threatens them. Meanwhile, Manuel and Herminia burn José Luis's crops and when he realizes the whole disaster, he promises revenge against his brother.
