In coordination with the British and French operations in the west, Russia was preparing to launch their most ambitious plan of the entire war – an absolutely gargantuan operation involving nearly 2 million men across the eastern front, with the goal of not just gaining some land, but knocking out the Austro-Hungarian army for good and crippling the Central Powers.
