500 km north of Moscow, fishermen find the corpse of a girl in 16th-century clothes in a boat, the character of the wound resembles a shot from an old weapon. Jewels belonging to the daughter of General Pavlov, who disappeared in these parts 8 years ago, were found on the murdered girl. Major Maxim Peshkov is sent from Moscow to investigate this case. Together with him, FSB Major Alexei Trubetskoy is sent on this mission.
