The Battles for the Rzhev Salient are usually only covered "on the side" when it comes to Eastern Front both in Soviet/Russian and German literature. This of course raises the question: Why? Of course, some note ideological reasons, yet at a closer look this does explain some aspects of it, yet does not really hold at all for the German side.
