After Saber's funeral, Sultan Hamed and Nagy resolve to take revenge, so they kill three French soldiers. When the French general learns of this, he arrests the village elder, Salim, and threatens to execute him within 48 hours unless he confesses to the killers. Sultan Hamed decides to turn himself in so that an innocent person is not executed.
