Data indicates that there has been a nearly 30% increase in drug overdose deaths in the US during a 12-month period between 2020-2021. How much of this alarming increase is related to the pandemic, and could the disruptions caused by COVID-19 provide an opportunity to rethink the US's approach to drug treatment and policy.
