Roses speak a universal language. They have touched and enchanted humanity for thousands of years. Their cultivated forms and names reflect the history of their times. One of the most famous varieties elevated the rose to a symbol of peace: the Gloria Dei, also known as the Peace Rose. It became the most successful garden rose of all time. The film presents the biological peculiarities of the rose, explains why it is capable of producing such a vast variety of cultivars, and shows how the composition of rose fragrance affects animals and humans. It also explores why some white garden roses develop red spots when it rains, and why the red spider mite is particularly fond of "bikini roses."
