Fuji asks the coffee shop owner about Chiaki's work and family shortly before Chiaki sends an email asking to meet for lunch. The two head to the art deco style Hilltop Hotel. Fuji takes Chiaki's advice and decides to restore her friendship with Ayako. Suddenly, her former boyfriend Kengo appears before her.
