Valentine and Hollis come across the decomposed body of a drug user whilst pursuing some youths on suspicion of theft, but the case takes an unexpected turn when the father of the deceased turns out to be a good friend of James Tennant. Meanwhile, Wright's first official shift at Sun Hill proves even more eventful than her last when she and Stamp attend the scene of a failed robbery at a jeweller's shop. After initially suspecting the jeweller of shooting the robber, CCTV footage reveals that a second man was present at the scene, leading Perkins to discover a connection with a long-time criminal who has just been released from Long Marsh after a ten year stretch for robbery.
