Alone in Hamilton with no money Piki is befriended by tough-talking wahine, Kura. Huia forces Ani to become the new kaea; and Piki and Carl take their relationship to the next level.

The group try to score a place in a talent quest; Rongo plots his revenge against Bill Mercer; and Kura helps Piki track down her mum.

Piki has an unexpected reunion; Bill gets closer to taking Kapua from Te Maru; and Rongo gets help from the strangest of places.
