Saving the King

Crowned King of Spain, Juan Carlos I leads the transition to democracy and sanctions a consensus constitution which states: "The person of the King is inviolable and not subject to responsibility". He can remain unpunished for the commission of any crime.

In the 1990s, Juan Carlos projected an image of international success, but, as interviewees recounted, some aspects of his personal life meant that the State and his friends had to go to great lengths to protect his prestige.

The king's scandals are in the streets, the pressure is becoming unbearable and his figure is irremediably shaken. His relationship with Corinna Larsen is a turning point in his reign. Saving the king seems an impossible mission.
