It is 5 months until Beijing 2022 and as coach Romain Haguenauer puts it: “There is a mountain of problems to solve” technically, artistically and physically for the athletes to be ready. In this second episode of the weekly series On Edge, get an intimate look at how the coaching system at the Academy operates and what it takes to prep the athletes’ programs. Madison and Evan reveal their new routine theme and work on the costume design. Olivia and Adrian perform their new program in front of the coaches and training mates for the first time. The teams are prepping for one of the first major competitions of the season: Finlandia Trophy. Madison and Evan take their music changes to the rink. It’s 4 months until Beijing 2022. Four of the teams arrive to Helsinki, Finland, for their first big competition of the season. Olivia and Adrian come face to face with the other Spanish team fighting for the same Olympic spot. Guillaume talks about his coming out story. Madison and Evan are eager to try their brand-new program.

It’s the teams’ first chance of the season to try their brand-new ice dancing programs in competition and in front of a live audience. Olivia and Adrian have a decisive performance for their Olympic qualification. Gabriella and Guillaume compete for the first time in 20 months. Madison and Evan get to see how the crowd react to try their new program. Lilah and Lewis are in for a great start.

Back from Finland, the teams are prepping for the beginning of the ice dancing Grand Prix season. Four of the teams compete in Skate America 2021 in Vegas, where Madi and Zach defend their title, and Madi and Evan try to go for the win. Lilah and Guillaume talk about the homophobic remarks that came out of Finland.

Coach Marie-France Dubreuil’s two top teams arrive in Torino for the Italian Grand Prix 2021: Madison and Zach, and Grabriella and Guillaume. Both coming from fresh wins at Skate America and Finlandia Trophy, this is the first time they compete against each other in this season 2021-2022 season.

With the sixth and final Grand Prix completed, coach Marie-France Dubreuil reflects on what each of the teams have achieved so far. Zach is curious about Madison and Adrian’s wedding plans. Gabriella makes an intriguing prediction about the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics podium.

The teams are getting ready for the second half of the Olympic season. Olivia and Adrian make ballroom dancing fine touches to their program ahead of the decisive Spanish nationals. Madison shows off her manicure skills while chatting with Lilah about the meaning of competing at the Olympics. COVID derails the Grand Prix Final and Nikolaj demonstrates his knife-making hobby to Zach who discusses his impending retirement.

It's down to the wire as Olivia and Adrian travel to Jaca, Spain, to compete against their rivals for the Spanish Olympic spot. Losing is not an option. Back in Montreal, Madison and Evan who decided to be safe and spend the holidays in Canada, share their hopes and expectations from the coming Olympic Games.

In this 12th and final episode of On Edge, the teams put the final touches on their programs ahead of the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Gabby and Guillaume, back from a win at the French National Championships, are focused on beating their Russian rivals at the Games. Madison and Zach, skating for their last time at the US National Championships, go head to head against Madison and Evan. Scott Moir explains what it takes to make an Olympic podium.
