Six months of waiting for a decision, and Sami's good-humoured patience is starting to wear very thin. A family day out in the Surrey Hills leads to departures and frustration which trigger a confrontation and a heated exchange at a 3-star hotel. Now he's back in Dorking, Sami is determined to be part of the local community, so his friend Raj invites him to enter the Dorking Marmalade Festival. Meanwhile, Katy walks into a sticky situation of her own at school that makes Peter's promotion at work all the more important.
