Tsukasa is trapped in an MMORPG called The World. With his conscious inaccessible, Tsukasa attempts to find his purpose for being in the game.

After receiving a player-killing Guardian monster from an unseen entity, Tsukasa is led to a hidden sector of the game in which a sleeping girl resides.

BT suggests Tsukasa is related to the legendary item, the Key of the Twilight and Sora suspects the same. Bear tells Subaru that Tsukasa may instead be a victim of a bigger problem.

Tsukasa's rampaging guardian monster wreaks havoc in The World, and an edict from Subaru makes him a wanted man.

Crim, an old acquaintance of Subaru, returns to the game after a long absence. Meanwhile, Sora tips off the Crimson Knights on how to lure Tsukasa into their grasp.

In captivity, Subaru talks with Tsukasa and she finds out just how real The World has become to him. She decides to release him, but they are interrupted as Sora arrives to 'rescue' him.

Mimiru encounters a novice player and offers her guidance in The World. This new relationship helps Mimiru uncover her own motivation for playing.

Mimiru, after careful consideration, resolves to do anything she can to meet Tsukasa again and be near him as much as possible. BT and Crim discuss a partnership to gather information on the Key of the Twilight.

The investigation into the Key of the Twilight begins, and it seems they will get the help of the hacker Helba. Tsukasa encounters a player who asks him to watch her Grunty which turns out to be sick.

Bear's shortcomings as a father may be root of his concern for Tsukasa. Clues arise as the search for the Key of the Twilight continues.
