After a shootout leaves a bystander dead in Springfield, Mass., a witness identifies Mark Schand as the shooter; even though Schand was in Hartford, Conn., on the night of the shootout, he is sent to prison for the rest of his life.

While walking home at night, 19-year-old Richard Miles is surrounded by police and accused of murder; after a swift conviction, he is sentenced to life in prison, but he finds hope in Centurion Ministries, which makes a commitment to vindicate him.

After an infant dies while in the care of daycare owner Melonie Ware, a jury sentences her to life behind bars, where inmates terrorize her as a child killer; Ware's husband uses the family's life savings to try to overturn her conviction.
