The Sun Lance

The morning rush breaks out at the Gray family, who only moved to the small town of Tarda a few weeks ago. The 12-year-old Max has once again started one of his super-inventions, the super-toaster, much to the annoyance of his mother Maria and 15-year-old sister Monika. Only Grandma Adele keeps calm. Father Matthew, a physicist, is currently on an expedition in Chile. Max has a hard time in his new class because he is different from his classmates, just a little inventor. Only Mathilda, called by everyone Wilde, can understand him and stands by him, while Arthur and his gang constantly make life difficult for him. On the last day of the expedition, during excavations in the Andes, Matthew discovers a strange spearhead that is recognized by the locals as the legendary sun lance. When Matthew holds it in his hand something mysterious happens...

The school's basketball team prepares for the Tarda 250th anniversary game. Arthur is the team captain and doesn't want Max to play. He and his gang use lazy tricks to give him no chance of getting the ball. As so often before, Max stands in front of his class as a failure. No wonder he wants nothing more than his father's return from the expedition. Together with Grandma Adele and his sister Monika, he picks him up from the airport. But Max is disappointed that his father first drives to the physics institute with his mysterious find, the sun lance. There, Matthäus meets with his boss, Dr. Gordon, lack of understanding of mysterious objects. Philipp Weller, a friend who works in the listening station of the space research institute, is all the more enthusiastic. He reports on the strong signals he was able to receive from the Andes, in Chile. Matthew lets him in on the secret of the sun lance.

The morning after their father's return from Chile, Max and Wilde ride their bikes to school. Arthur and his buddies chase the two, so that Max and Wilde collide with the parked van owned by confectioner Sanders. They both fall into the open car, Sanders does not notice, closes the doors of the hold and drives away with them. When they can finally free themselves from the car, they find themselves in the amusement park. You decide to skip school today. Only in the evening, during a heavy thunderstorm, do they arrive at Max's home completely drenched. Grandma Adele organizes that Wilde can stay with them. That night everything changes for Max. He secretly sneaks into his father's study. There it lies, the mysterious sun lance, about which Father Matthew has so far only talked little. The thunderstorm is getting stronger and stronger, Max feels magically drawn to the spearhead, he touches it. At that moment there is a lightning strike.

The next day, Max feels full of energy. During breakfast he helps Adele with a crossword puzzle. Matthäus offers Max and Wilde to take them to school. On the way they get caught in a traffic jam. While Matthew nods off, Max exercises his magical powers. He lets the car float over the other vehicles. Edi and Dil, two thieves who break down the traffic with their vehicle, watch the flying car. Once at school, Max is able to use his magical powers to snatch Arthur Wilde's bicycle from Arthur. Wilde is enthusiastic about Max, the phenomenon. Not only can he set objects in motion, but he has a wealth of knowledge that embarrasses even teachers. Philipp receives a signal from space that matches the code of the sun lance. But that's not all. An unidentifiable object from the same region that the signal was received from appears to be approaching Earth's solar system.

Max is kidnapped in a van by the thieves, Edi and Dil. They ask him to help them open the Tarda Bank vault door. On the way to the bank, the van is followed by a tramp. Edi and Dil are stunned to see that the pursuer is throwing burning bullets at them. Max uses the thieves' distraction to free himself with the help of his magical powers. It blocks the brakes and turns the steering wheel into a soft rubber ring, to the fright of thieves. Edi and Dil get away safely this time. A warning from the local police and a broken tire are no reason for the two to give up their plan. They kidnap Max’s sister Monika.

Max can be seen all over the front pages of the daily newspapers. With his help, the arrest of the bank robbers is a great event for the city of Tarda. Only Wilde is not in a good mood that day. Her parents plan to sell the house and move away from Tarda. Max devises a plan with Wilde to prevent the house from being sold. As they set off, Arthur and his gang meet them. They want to hit Max and Wilde with their bikes. Max can stop the boys from doing their thing with a wave of the hand. Wilde is extremely amused. The very interested and bizarre buyer has no chance against Max, who turned Wilde's house into a hovel with his unearthly abilities. When the walls and stairs finally fall apart, the ambitious buyer gives up in exasperation.

Arthur and his friends wonder more and more about Max's abilities. He seems to be getting the upper hand in basketball too. Matthäus tells Philipp about Max's magical powers. Philipp, who is worried about the boy's well-being, wants to subject Max to all sorts of tests. He suggests to Matthäus that the strength of the radiation emanating from Max's body be analyzed with a special measuring device in his laboratory. On the same day, Matthäus and Max stop by Philipp. He notices that the energy levels in Max's body are very high. Suddenly Max lets the sun lance float. The ground begins to shake and a strong energy is released. Max pulls out the favorite card from his deck of cards and the energy beam hits the card figure Ion.

Max really wants to take part in today's TV quiz. However, he is not allowed to leave the house without Ion as a protector. However, Matthew advised against being seen in public with Ion. Adele can't watch Max suffer from it. She disguises Ion so that he remains undetected. The three of you go to the TV studio. Max leaves the television company as the winner of the TV question game. In the afternoon, Adele sends Max and the disguised Ion to the supermarket. On the way there they meet savages. She complains that Max has apparently been hiding things from her recently. Embroiled in an argument, Max does not notice Arthur and his gang kidnap Ion. While Max is desperately looking for Ion at the busy weekly market, he runs into the tramp. Meanwhile, Matthäus and Philipp try to repair the damaged sun lance.

Max takes part in the TV quiz from Tarda-TV. His challenger, Dora Parnell, is a super gifted child prodigy. But Max wins. Dora is enthusiastic about him and would like to have the coolest boy in the world as a boyfriend. Wilde doesn't like that at all, because with Max's fame, their friendship is somehow different. So she gladly accepts an invitation to the cinema from Arthur. Arthur was left by his friends because of Max, who also became team captain in basketball, defeat across the board. When it comes to ice cream, Wilde finally reveals to Arthur the secret of Max, Ion and the sun lance. Meanwhile, Matthäus and Philipp are working feverishly on the sun lance. You have to save Max from "becoming invisible" and disappearing into space. But they only have three days and three nights left.

The sun lance has disappeared from the physics institute's safe. There are no signs of a break-in. When the suspicion falls on Max's father, Matthäus, he dedicates Dr. Gordon, his boss, and Arthur's father, in the secret. With the help of his magical abilities, Max makes past events visible to everyone in a hologram. Together with the inspector, they can follow the path of the thief who leads to Dr. Gordon leads. But since last night Arthur has also disappeared. Does he have anything to do with it? Max also senses that the evil force is close by again, he discovers the weird ball of grass. The police storm the weekend house, find the sun lance and make a surprising discovery.

The astrophysicist Philipp and his assistant Erwin can hardly believe it: an unknown object is approaching the earth. Max's sister Monika is a little in love with Ion and takes him to the disco. There they are the absolute dream couple and dance through the air. Max follows the two of them, and he just comes in when the dangerous alien Zac in the form of the vagabond storms into the disco. It comes to a fight between him, Ion and Max. When Zac also hurls his fireballs at Max and thus wants to bring him into his power, Ion comes up with the word of salvation that can defeat Zac. Max only has to say the reverse of the name Zac and the villain disappears into space, never to be seen again. But Max is not doing well.

Ion comforts Max's family with the story that a spaceship from his planet will soon land at the Sun Gate in Chile. Then Max's magical power is removed to store it again in the sun lance so that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Matthäus and Philipp managed to stop the sun lance from closing. But there is a new problem. The approaching spaceship has now also been discovered by the international cosmos administration. However, they believe it is a meteorite that will collide with the earth. Everything is done to destroy the object. Philipp has to prevent that from happening. At the same time, Max, his father and Ion set off on their journey to Chile with the sun lance in their luggage.

Matthew awakens from his unconsciousness. Max is standing next to him. The camera is still running. Neither of them can remember the events of the last few hours, but one thing is certain: Ion returned to his planet with the solar lance. Max tries to levitate a stone, but it no longer has any magical power. Matthäus is overjoyed that he got Max back healthy. In Tarda, Max is still celebrated as the stormy phenomenon. But he now has to prepare seriously for the basketball match for the city anniversary. Finally the time has come, after the big parade the game against the "Humming Wasps" begins. Max is unsure, but his team, including Arthur, stands behind their captain. The game is going great, but it's a draw at first. But then Max throws the decisive basket. Acclaimed by the enthusiastic fans, Max and Arthur hug each other. They have finally become friends, and Max trusts in his human strength.
