Schapelle is based on Eamonn Duff's disputed book "Sins of the Father." In 2013 a court found that this publication had breached copyright, with the judge referring to it as a "flagrant disregard". In addition to family members, many core characters claim to have been grossly misrepresented, with a number providing direct interviews. A number of defamation cases remain ongoing.
