Miranda, a young pianist adopted as a newborn by a wealthy Buenos Aires family, suffers from panic attacks triggered by her repressed childhood memories. She leaves for her native Mexico. Her only clue is her adoption papers. Her adoptive mother hires Leo Gutiérrez, a former military man, to protect her. Meanwhile, Javier Lara Castillo returns to Mexico to join his powerful family. Their network of human trafficking and corruption extends throughout the entire region. Miranda learns that she was not adopted, but kidnapped. Her biological mother, Gabriela, is in a mental institution. Gabriela is tormented by the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Lara Castillo family. When Miranda receives a message about her missing suitcase, she stumbles upon a disturbing name: Javier Lara Castillo.
