Yann Kandinsky recharges his batteries in a forest located in the depths of the Allier, eager to take a step back, after having faced the worst criminals. But his peace of mind was short-lived: the policeman was contacted by a man who called him without giving his identity. The latter establishes a link between three disappearances of women that occurred in the same geographical area, around Brest. The unknown man never ceases to feed Kandinsky's mailbox with press articles about these affairs. Kandinsky was on his way to Brittany when he discovered that the mother of one of the missing women, Madeleine Guyot, was beginning her third week of hunger strike so that the police would take an interest in what they considered to be a kidnapping and not a voluntary disappearance.
