Spring 1945. Peace has finally returned to Europe. It is full of optimism that Klara, the daughter of an industrialist, and her husband, Johann, want to build a common future. Egon, Johann's brother, dreams of a new start in civilian life after having worked on the border for several years. The signs point to a new beginning, but peace poses new challenges both politically and economically. Klara, Johann and Egon, confronted with the legacy of war and the sins of the father, seek to shape their future, each in their own way.
