Jamy's World

Jamy's World

Dans le secret des bâtisseurs (1x2)

:

From Roman constructions to the temples of Angkor, from Gothic cathedrals to New York skyscrapers, why have builders always sought to build higher and more imposingly? What technical revolutions have made these architectural feats possible throughout history? To tell the story of this adventure, Jamy Gourmaud sets off to meet engineers, architects and artists. His journey begins in Rome, where arches and vaults were invented, as well as a form of concrete. It continues in Angkor, where Khmer architects built a gigantic metropolis. At the same time, Gothic art, symbolised by the basilica of Saint-Denis, sparked a veritable architectural revolution in Europe. Jamy also takes us to Florence to discover the work and legacy of Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi, and finally to New York to discuss the challenges facing builders today and tomorrow.
