Saint Paisios, From Farasa to Heaven

Father Paisios’s deteriorating health forces him to leave Sinai and return to Mount Athos. There, he meets Father Tychon and asks him to become his spiritual guide. A new spiritual struggle begins. Some young monks gather around him and beg him to accompany them as their spiritual father. Father Paisios’s health declines significantly, and he is forced to leave Mount Athos to see doctors in Thessaloniki. There, he meets Father Polycarpos, who offers to help him. Father Polycarpos introduces him to his spiritual daughters, who wish to become nuns. With great love and discernment, Elder Paisios helps them, and a spiritual bond begins to form between them. The elder undergoes surgery, during which half of his lung is removed. Despite his own suffering, he does not forget the pain of others. Many people find comfort in the hospital near Father Paisios.
